St Lawrence Church is known locally as ‘the Cathedral of Westmorland’ being one of the biggest churches in what was the county of Westmorland before the introduction of Cumbria in 1974. It is Grade 1 listed and parts of the building date from the 12th century.
The church is very much the heart of our active local community. Unusually our church building is open to visitors, those looking for peace and solace or simply time for prayer or reflection, from 9am to 5pm 365 days of the year.
