Morland Public Consultation
Morland is engaged in a major project to renovate its building and heritage to help us reach out better in Mission as we seek to serve our community and the surrounding area. There is a public consultation on Saturday 14th March, 10.00-4.00 at the Studio in the square (next to the Mill Yard Cafe). We are all stakeholders in this, so please come along if you can to find out what’s planned and have your say.
Activities
The Church has direct involvement in the running of Morland Church of England Primary School with six of its members being on the Governing Body.
During term-time, a JAM (Jesus and Me) service regularly takes place at 9.15 a.m. on Monday mornings in the Church for the Nursery, as well as an assembly for both parents and pupils at 2.45 once a month.
The Mothers’ Union has regular meetings.
Members of the congregation organise such things as the Morland Walking Group and the Morland Book Group and are involved in the running of the Village Hall. There are regular Fellowship Group meetings involving people from the other parishes in the Mission Group.
Morland Choristers’ Camp is organised in conjunction with the Church. It culminates with Evensong in Carlisle Cathedral, a concert in Penrith, Sung Eucharist and Evensong on the last Sunday of the week (always the 1st Sunday in August) in our Church. Further details of this can be seen on the camp’s own website.
An offshoot of the Morland Chorister’s Camp is the Taste of Morland weekend for children to encounter choral and fun music and who are either too young or too inexperienced to attend the full camp.
Every year, weather permitting, the Church together with the School organise the Village Summer Fête. Follow this link to see the details.
The Festival of Arts is organised by our Lay Preacher and Choirmaster, David Jones and has become an annual event for the first weekend in July. Click here for a brochure.
